Hanna drops Guilt Free single ahead of EP release
South Africa-based Zimbabwean-Ethiopian artist Hanna has released a new single titled ‘Guilt Free’ off her upcoming EP of the same name set for release on 17 May.
The single follows ‘Pride’, which was released in March and was chosen as an Apple Music Big 5 track of the week. ‘Pride’ also held the No 1 position on the 5 Nights hip hop chart on 5FM.
“‘Guilt’ Free is an uplifting anthem featuring triumphant horns carrying affirmations on everything from following your dreams to setting boundaries in relationships,” Hanna said.
“I wrote this song after my graduation, relieved to finally be able to pursue music without guilt. It’s a song is full of energy and motivation making it the perfect pick-me-up as the title track of my upcoming EP.”
Hanna said the making of the upcoming EP initially started as a commemoration of her graduation and the subsequent liberty to ardently follow her aspirations. However, it transformed into an introspective journey focusing on self-appreciation and the dilemma associated with self-care.
“It’s a diverse collection of sounds with influences ranging from pop to R&B to trap and even gospel, maintaining strong hip hop roots with powerfully relatable lyrics. It’s a feel-good project which will leave you feeling refreshed, triumphant, validated, and rooting for yourself more than you were before,” Hanna said.
