Open call: Project Officer for music and AV research project
The Music In Africa Foundation (MIAF), a non-profit organisation operating in the African music sector, seeks an experienced Project Officer for a quantitative study focusing on Mozambique’s music and audiovisual (AV) industries. Over a five-month period, the MIAF will conduct a robust quantitative analysis of the music and AV industries in Mozambique, as well as develop and implement a series of capacity-building workshops on selected topics.
We seek an experienced, mature individual with excellent coordination skills and strong experience in arts administration and research. The successful candidate will be based in Johannesburg.
Key responsibilities
- Assume coordination for assigned programme activities.
- Develop, set-up and manage an implementation plan for the project.
- Identify and communicate project resource needs.
- Work with local partners to ensure that all aspects of the project are delivered effectively.
- Assist in project finance administration.
- Effective management of project timelines.
- Copy and report writing: service provider briefs, project descriptions, press releases, advertisements, posters and flyers.
- Develop contracts for service providers and partners.
- Facilitate engagement processes for workshop trainees, facilitators and technical crew with service providers.
- Coordinate the work of other project staff.
- Communicate effectively with participants.
- Submit reports to management and partners.
- Perform any other duties as necessary.
Skills and requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Solid track record of project management (minimum five years) in the creative industries (music and AV industry experience is advantageous).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English (Portuguese is advantageous).
- Strong experience in research.
- Experience in administration, especially of cultural projects.
- Highly proficient with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Agility to work closely with the other project team members.
- Ability to work under pressure and independently.
- Ability to travel (occasional).
