Call for applications: Creatives training in southern Africa
Electric South in South Africa is calling on young managers and decision makers who work in creative and social hubs to submit applications for a free two-day training based on its new initiative called connect.hubs.
Connect.hubs is spearheaded by the British Council and Hivos, with support from Electric South, Enthuse Afrika and Youngblood. It aims to grow the ecosystem of creative impact workers across southern Africa.
This training will be led by Nesta, an innovation foundation, and will be conducted in two phases:
Phase one: This will include participants from South Africa, Namibia, Mauritius, Mozambique and Botswana. It will take place from 19 to 21 November 2018 in Cape Town, South Africa.
Phase two: This will include participants from Zimbabwe, Malawi and Zambia. It will take place from 21 to 23 November 2018 in Harare, Zimbabwe.
A total of 20 hub participants will be selected for the training, and taken through the following topics:
- Communicating your value
- Serving a community
- Sustaining and adapting your business model
- Content curation and reaching larger audiences
- Diversity and inclusion
- Planning for impact
After the training there will be an open call for project funding that involves collaborations between hubs.
The deadline for applications is 8 November 2018 (11.59pm). Successful applicants will be notified by 12 November.
Who can apply?
This opportunity is open to individuals aged between 18 and 35 years, and hold the following titles:
- Artists
- Managers
- Influencers
- Decision makers
- Entrepreneurs
- Activists
- Culture producers in physical or virtual spaces
Financing
All travel expenses will be fully covered, including flights, local taxis, accommodation and meals.
