
Call for applications: OneBeat 2019
International music exchange programme OneBeat is calling on musicians to apply for its 2019 intake.

OneBeat is organised by the US Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs in collaboration with New York-based music organisation Found Sound Nation (FSN) under its project Bang on a Can.
The programme will connect 25 innovative musicians from around the world to collaborate on performances, workshops, discussions and the development of strategies for arts-based social engagement that has the capability of making a positive impact on local and global communities.
Musician living in the following African countries are eligible to apply: Algeria, Egypt, Kenya, Madagascar, Mali, Morocco, Mozambique, Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa, Tunisia and Zimbabwe.
The deadline for applications is 21 December 2018 (midnight EAT).
Eligibility
Interested individuals must:
- Be musicians of any genre including but not limited to traditional/folk, hip hop, experimental, electronic, jazz, classical, sound design, beatmaking, multimedia art, or any combination of these styles.
- Be aged between 19 and 35 years old.
- Demonstrate an ability to collaborate with musicians from many genres and traditions.
- Be able to strongly represent their own musical tradition.
- Present a strong vision for larger project ideas that connect with local or global communities.
Requirements
- A well-written profile, which should include musical background and interests, and future projects and goals.
- At least three samples of your solo and collaborative work (audio and video).
OneBeat support
- Participants will receive a modest stipend.
- OneBeat will cater for the travel expenses, food and accommodation.
