MTN to celebrate Ghana's independence with music festival
Telecoms company MTN will host an Independence Day edition of the MTN Music Festival at the Accra International Conference Centre on 5 March.
Starting at 6pm, say the organisers, attendees will be treated to music from Efya, Daddy Lumba and Ofori Amponsah. Besides music, fans will also celebrate the country in dance and poetry.
"I am going to be there to give you some amazing vibes," Efya said. "So don't miss out."
The festival usually takes place around national holidays in the year.
“The MTN Music Festival is geared towards celebrating our evergreen Ghanaian music and culture," said Noel Ghanson, MTN Ghana's chief marketing officer. “This is one of the best treats we can give our customers on the eve of Ghana’s independence anniversary celebrations."
The festival is one of the ways MTN Ghana stimulates the country's creative arts industry. Others include MTN Hitmaker and MTN Regional festivals. The telecoms giant has also gone into the entertainment technology space through its recent partnership with music streaming software app Aftown.
“Our partnership with Aftown emanates from our quest for indigenous Ghanaian businesses to grow within our ecosystem and within Ghana where we operate," said Bless Sefenu Agordjo, a senior manager at MTN Ghana, adding that the company works with "vibrant young indigenous young entrepreneurs who want to help the creative arts industry as we have been doing in the past”.
