Fleur du Cap Theatre Awards SA: All the winners
The winners of the 54th edition of the Fleur du Cap Theatre Awards were announced at the Artscape Opera House in Cape Town, South Africa, on Sunday.
The winners were chosen from productions that performed at professional theatre venues in and around the Mother City. Theatre practitioners were recognised for their acting, directing, staging and technical abilities. The winners received R15 000 ($1 000) each and a silver medallion.
Daniel Mpilo Richards, who stars as Bernardo in West Side Story, won the Best Performance by a Supporting Actor in a Musical or Music Theatre Show Award while Bethany Dickson, who stars as Miss Honey in Matilda the Musical, triumphed in the Best Performance by a Supporting Actress in a Musical or Music Theatre Show category.
The Best Performance by a Lead Actor in a Musical or Music Theatre Show was won by Ryan de Villiers who plays Miss Trunchbull in Matilda the Musical. Carmen Pretorius, who plays Maria Rainer in The Sound of Music, came tops in the Best Performance by a Lead Actress in a Musical or Music Theatre Show category. The Best Sound Design, Original Music Composition or Original Score Award went to Womb of Fire's Lukhanyiso Skosana.
