Miami-based Zimbabwean rapper drops surprise EP, 'Overqualified'
Keith Guzah, popularly known as KapCity, just surprised all hip hop heads with a new project at a time when we all thought he’d be out of the game for a bit.
The wait for all the KapCity fans and hip hop diehards has finally come to an end. After a long period of being blessed with dope freestyles and some awesome visuals on Instagram (a tape of those wouldn’t be a bad idea, by the way, because they slap!) - as the artist did covers for tracks like 'SICKO MODE' and the like, and also dropped 'Talking About Us' with some cool visuals along the way - the Miami-based Zimbabwean rapper KapCity has at last dropped some new recorded music in the form of an EP, a surprise release entitled Overqualified.
Kapcity dropped his last album, It Feels Good To Be Home, in 2017, but the reception back home was not outstanding. Despite it being considered a 'good' project, it lacked musical features from his motherland. It was followed by a few singles such as 'Talking about Us', which was pretty cool, but on Overqualified we all have some local talent to look out for.
Before we dive into the music, the EP artwork is pretty slick - with the red, black and white theme which defines KapCity effectively announcing his return.
Overqualified has some local features from Cal_Vin to H3nry, and is a seven-track jam-packed package for everyone with some killer bars, specifically on 'Chando' and 'Facts' as Kap, H3nry and Cal_Vin go head to head and fire up a dope hip hop joint with vernacular lyrics. KapCity has long faced stick for not embracing vernacular songwriting styles, so this is particularly awesome stuff.
Also look out for 'God (Good Old Days)', as Kap gives us something of a feel from his old projects (such as the album Success), while the banger 'All For Me' has a strong pop vibe.
On Overqualified, KapCity strongly represents H-Town, as always, but the question remains... Does his performance live up to the hype suggested by the EP's title?
