SA: Sho Madjozi drops ‘Idhom’ video, announces tour dates
South African artist Sho Madjozi has released a new video titled ‘Idhom’.
The colourful and animated video is taken off her 2018 debut album, Limpopo Champions League. Madjozi, who won two top awards at the recently-held South African Music Awards, announced during her acceptance speech that she would drop ‘Idhom’ at midnight.
At the beginning of the video, the singer is seen coming out of a shack – a testimony to her upbringing and pride about her origins. She sings, “Now I am the girl with the crown/I am walking the crown, now I am ambassador now.”
The timing of the release of the video proved convenient, following her big success at the SAMAs, and Madjozi will no doubt leverage the video to celebrate her achievements. The rapper has also played some big gigs lately, including Afropunk in Brooklyn, One Source Live, Cape Town International Jazz Festival and Global Citizen Festival. Adding to her list of achievements, Madjozi and Nigeria’s Teniola Apata were the only African acts nominated in the Best New International Act – Viewers' Choice category at the 2019 edition of the BET Awards. They are competing against Headie (UK), Octovian (UK), Jokair (France) and Nesly (France).
Looking at these achievements, it feels safe to conclude that the artist is destined for a massive career.
