Bio
Born on 29 April 1991 at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital, Blantyre, Onesimuss (real name Sopani Armstrong Kalua) is a South African based gospel artist from Malawi. He grew up in Chilomoni and Chilobwe townships. Besides singing, he is also a songwriter and dancer. He started off as an Afro-pop and RnB artist but later changed when he was baptised.
His career as a dancer started when he became a member of a group called God Soldiers Dancing Group (GSoldiers). In the years 2006 and 2008, he won the Sprite Dancing Competition. He discovered his rap talent when he was with GSoldiers. This prompted him to join a gospel group called BBM Clique (Blessed Beyond Measure). Since then, he began releasing songs such as ‘By My Side’ and ‘Random Thoughts’.
He went solo and started working on an unreleased secular hip-hop mixtape called ‘Beyond Limits’. In 2012, he released a RnB mixtape titled ‘BrB’ and an album called ‘Maso’. He has also worked with different artists on various projects. He featured Young Kay on his song ‘Beautiful’ and Skid on ‘Hey Shawty’. Some of his songs include 'Without Your Love', ‘In Love With a DJ', ‘Sinditha Kumvetsa’, ‘Get Better’ and ‘Ndamusowa’. In 2015, he released another album titled ‘Worship Core’ which features the track ‘Get Better’.
In 2014, Armstrong was nominated at the Malawi Music Awards for the Best Song and Most Popular Ringtone categories.
