SA: Busiswa biopic to premiere at Africa Rising International Film Festival
Busiswa: An Unbreakable Story, a biographical documentary about South African singer Busiswa, will debut at Africa Rising International Film Festival in Johannesburg, South Africa, on 27 November.
Narrated by Busiswa, the documentary is about the singer’s journey into the music industry and how she managed to be part of Beyoncé Knowles award-winning soundtrack The Lion King: The Gift.
The documentary also explores ideas of independence, femininity and identity, through Busiswa’s remarkable story.
“Boasting a marquee career that includes countless global anthems, a cult-like following across the continent, tours and a handful of accolades, musician Busiswa Gqulu’s story is set into shake the world with the premiere of her powerful biographical documentary,” a statement reads.
“The focus of the Africa Rising International Film Festival this year is inclusion,” festival organiser Ayanda Sithebe said.
“With that said, we are thrilled to have a story about a powerful woman who is changing the game in more ways than one leading our opening night.”
