Kofi Heru Asamadi
Bio
Kofi Heru Asamadi is an artist, music director and producer from The Netherlands.
Asamadi's passion for music began at a tender age while growing up around traditional musicians.
He moved to Holland with his parents in the 1970s and this saw becoming a member of a Rastafari movement called Communications. He changed his name to Jah Sam and Jah Zebulon.
In 1998, he founded the JMPR foundation and started school projects in cooperation with GGD Rotterdam. The projects were designed to address alcohol and drug abuse for youngsters in schools.
In 2003, he graduated from the Rotterdam Centre for Theatre in Rotterdam followed by the establishement of a stage play and musical group called WIKULTURU.
In 2007, he toured Surinam with WIKULTURU and performed school projects on HIV. During the trip in South- America, the Houten Jas project was born. Some local youths and actors were inspired by the film.
