NAXX BITOTA
Bio
Born under the sun of the Democratic Republic of Congo, NAXX BITOTA discovered her gift for music at the age of 9 and dreamed already of making a career of it. She emigrated as a teenager, first to Belgium, then to Quebec in 2008, always with the firm intention of exploiting the wealth of her artistic talent. She has forged her own path, distinguishing herself in a number of choirs in a variety of styles: classical, gospel, folk and traditional.
An author, composer and performer, NAXX BITOTA is greatly influenced by classical music, but also by the popular music of her native country, notably Mutuashi and Congolese Rumba. Her compositions, created around various African rhythms, reveal her enthusiasm and commitment. Armed with her creative generosity, her contagious energy, her passion for singing, and above all her singular sound, she performs on many local and international stages. Her committed yet festive personality and all her inspirations converge in a powerful and refined "Afropop Mutuashi".
In spring 2018, she shines and imposes her personal style in the "Rythmes au féminin" series of Productions Nuits d'Afrique. In 2020, she offers a series of four concerts paying tribute to Central Africa, including an exceptionally colorful recording made at Club Balattou as part of the special edition of the Festival International Nuits d'Afrique. In 2022, she sets the stage of Zanzibar’s historic festival Sauti Za Busara on fire in Tanzania, only to do the same at the Folk Alliance International in Kansas City in the United States of America the following year, to name a few.
Having reached an undeniable artistic maturity, on June 30, 2022, NAXX BITOTA launched her debut album "Kuetu", which means "Home" in Tshiluba, available on all music platforms. Buoyed by the success of her first singles "Poso Oyo", a blend of Reggae and Mutuashi, and "Nimekua", pure Congolese Rumba, this album, fusing Congo rhythms and Afropop, evokes deep issues in a refreshing way, such as racism and living together. We also sing of the experiences and stages in life, happy or otherwise, that help us grow.
At the crossroads of Miriam Makeba, Angélique Kidjo, Céline Dion, Whitney Houston… NAXX BITOTA always finds an elegant way to bring people together and pay homage to the many regions of Africa: a fully assumed commitment that we follow like a guideline throughout her career.
