Play Africa, a product from Alicia Global Connect Communication Ltd, is a music library and streaming application that only aims at promoting African music.
The app promotes and sells music from all genres and strives to make African music reaches the diaspora. Play Africa also seeks to help musicians and artistes in Africa to sell their music for a sustainable income. With Play Africa, music is sold in a local currency that allows fans of various artiste in their respective countries to be able to easily purchase and stream their songs at affordable prices.
Play Africa was launched in Ghana on 23 February 2018 and has signed up over 180 artists with over 2500 listed songs, 70 albums and 17-music genre. Some of the signed musicians include Kwabena Kwabena, Okyeame Kwame, Rocky Dawuni, Victor AD, LXG, Paapa Yankson, Kwaw Kesse and Yaa Pono.
Play Africa app is available for download on Google Play Store. Currently the biggest music library and streaming service in Ghana, Play Africa targets a population of 1.2 billion people in 54 African countries with the total expected revenue of USD23 billion in the year 2030 which makes it the biggest music library in Africa.
Through its educative programs, Play Africa has hosted six (6) successful BonFIRE night with the stars to educate musicians and music fans on the need to pay to stream music. Some of musicians who were listed on Play Africa Top 10 chart included; MoQid, Kd Bakes, D Cryme, Article Wan, Agbeshie and Balo.
Play Africa through its corporate support has participated in events such as AFRIMA, EDEMFEST, Central Music Awards (CMA) and Volta Music Awards (VMA).
Play Africa CEO, Mr Isaac Yeboah Filson was awarded the best Male-Start-Up Entrepreneur of the Year by Youth Entrepreneurship Awards 2018, which was supported, by National Youth Authority and Ministry of Business Development and Commonwealth Alliance for Young Entrepreneurs. (CAYE-Ghana).
