From being tone-deaf to earning awards as the first African female to win a full scholarship at Berklee College of Music, Wambura Mitaru has engraved her mark as a singer songwriter with a 12 year career.
The Nairobi born musician is the embodiment of music that births life. Blending a range of African sounds she has grown up with, Wambura is eclectic. Her music fuses her traditional Kenyan sounds with Funk, Soul, RnB, Jazz, and Hip hop. She is a natural fusion artist with excellent global appeal.
Her career kicked off in high school with training in classical music and later, a 5 year tenure in Boston, MA finding her own sound. She has toured Europe and United States playing multiple concerts and at various festivals. She recently did an Africa tour as a producer and music teacher and currently resides in Kenya.
Wambura Mitaru released her debut album Kena on November 28th 2019 in Nairobi and a global release on December 16th. In it she celebrates joy and everything that comes with its self-reflective manifestation.
