The trio first toured South Africa in 2015 and are also expected to perform at Splashy Fen festival in KwaZulu-Natal.
“Our last trip to South Africa was a life-changing experience from surfing Muizenberg to swimming with sharks, to creating new friendships and playing incredible shows for wonderful people,” American Authors singer and guitarist Zac Barnett said. “For this trip, it’s only natural we go even bigger and make more memories that last forever.”
Since the release of their chart-topping debut album Oh, What a Life, the band has achieved numerous milestones, including platinum singles and appearances on awards shows. Among the band’s impressive achievements are gold and triple-platinum certifications, billions of streams, and top-charting hits like ‘Go Big or Go Home’. Seasons (2019) and the Counting Down EP, released during the pandemic of 2020, are the band’s latest offerings.
Besides Barnett, the band features Dave Rublin (bass) and Matt Sanchez (drums). Formerly known as The Blue Pages group, American Authors formed at Berklee College of Music in Boston in 2006. After relocating to Brooklyn, the band’s breakout single ‘Best Day of My Life’ became a global phenomenon, featured in over 600 movie trailers, TV shows, commercials, and as the theme song for the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Tickets to the Cape Town and Johannesburg events can be purchased here and here from 24 January.
