Apple Music commissions top designers to customise new African playlist art

The new playlist art features across Apple Music’s top African playlists that were designed by various designers. The playlists and designers are as follows: Mzansi House designed by Richard Hart, Mzansi Gospel by Beloved Beadwork, Ghana Bounce by Prince Jyesi and Woza Weekend by Lynnie Z.

Other playlists include Mzansi Hip Hop by Billelis + In House 3D modelling, Mzansi Jazz by Victoria Topping, Alternatiewe Afrikaans by Merwe Marchand, Afro Soul Mix and Afrikaanse Treffers by Studio Muti and Mzansi Soul by Dapper Lou.

Apple Music global director of editorial, Rachel Newman, said the new playlists and artworks are meant to “connect more directly with the communities and the culture for which they were intended. In many ways, it’s a visual representation of the music that you will find inside that playlist.”

The designers are a combination of local and international talent. The artists hailing from Africa are: Prince Jyesi (Accra, Ghana), Merwe Marchand (Cape Town, South Africa), Studio Muti (Cape Town) and Beloved Beadwork (Cape Town).
