Audiomack partners with Nigerian fintech Flutterwave
Music streaming platform Audiomack has partnered with Nigerian fintech Flutterwave to expand access and monetisation opportunities for African artists.
This collaboration allows Audiomack, currently reaching more than 25 million monthly users globally, to offer premium music experiences and introduce new features to its customers and artists for a fee.
Audiomack’s users in Africa will benefit from enhanced access to Audiomack’s vast music library and an improved user experience, while African artists will gain greater opportunities for financial success and artistic recognition through seamless payment options to fans who want to support their favourite artists directly.
Launched in 2012, Audiomack opened an office in Lagos, Nigeria, expanding its reach in 2021 to key markets such as Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, and South Africa.
“As Audiomack enters its next growth phase across Africa, the partnership with Flutterwave brings seamless and secure payment processing capabilities to its users,” a statement from Audiomack reads. “This collaboration will enable Audiomack to offer more payment modes like bank transfer, local cards and mobile money to African users, making the platform accessible to a broader audience across the continent.”
“We are excited to join forces with Audiomack and contribute to the growth of Africa’s music industry,” Flutterwave founder and CEO Olugbenga Agboola said. “By leveraging our technology, we will expand the Audiomack user base across Africa while empowering African artists with increased monetisation opportunities. Audiomack’s commitment to promoting African music and providing a platform for artists to showcase their talent aligns perfectly with Flutterwave’s mission to simplify payments and foster economic growth across the continent. This partnership represents a significant step forward in realising these shared goals.”
Audiomack co-founder and CEO Dave Macli also expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership with Flutterwave. He said that the partnership allows them to improve the Audiomack experience for African users and expand its reach to a larger audience in Africa.
Macli emphasised that the partnership provides African artists with the necessary resources to succeed and effectively monetise their artistic work. “We are delighted to partner with Flutterwave to enhance the Audiomack experience for our African users,” he said. “This collaboration enables us to bring Audiomack to even more people in Africa and gives African artists the tools they need to thrive and monetise their art effectively.”
Meanwhile, in May, Audiomack revealed that its Creator App, which launched in February 2022 and provides musicians with detailed metrics and valuable insights into their music’s performance, has reached one million installations. Last week, Audiomack also revealed that Nigerian Afrobeats singer Burna Boy had become the first African act to cross one billion streams on its platform.
For Flutterwave, the move follows a June partnership with Microsoft to build its next-generation platform on Microsoft Azure. The engagement enables Flutterwave to support the growth of transactions for global clients like Uber, Netflix and Microsoft, leveraging Azure's capabilities for a seamless and secure payment experience. Key Flutterwave products are also being developed and transitioned onto the Azure cloud platform, with the use of Azure OpenAI Service for scaling their offerings to merchants worldwide.
