Bahati, Eddy Kenzo video finally out
Kenyan gospel artist Bahati and Uganda’s Eddy Kenzo have finally released their much anticipated collaboration song ‘Barua kwa Mama’, which means 'letter to my mother' in Swahili.
The song’s video, which was posted on YouTube yesterday, has already received more than 35 000 views with positive responses from east African fans.
The collaboration comes two months after Bahati worked with Tanzania’s Rayvanny on ‘Nikumbushe’. Bahati’s humble nature and talent saw him win a Groove Award for Male Artist of the Year in 2014, outshining the then big wigs in the gospel industry.
Kenzo’s link with Kenya did not begin with ‘Barua kwa Mama’; he was recently named Kenya Tourism Board ambassador. He is known for three major musical breakthroughs: his 2008 release of ‘Yanimba’ with Mikie Wine, 2010's ‘Stamina’, which was a mega hit across East Africa and was even Yoweri Museveni's presidential campaign theme song, and ‘Sitya Loss’, which was released in 2014 and helped introduced him to an international audience.
The project is in line with Bahati’s mission of spreading his wings beyond Kenya's borders, and it seems Kenzo's notoriety could provide the lift that the gospel musician needs.
