Call for applications: 2020 Haba na Haba International Dance Festival in Tanzania

Applications are open to local and international artists exploring contemporary dance, traditional ngoma dance and street dance as serious artistic expressions.

The festival is a training and performance platform for participants to learn more about the challenges of the sector, share ideas and expand networking opportunities with festival organisers, relevant cultural institutions and funders.

The programme includes a one-week traditional dance workshop, which takes place before the start of the festival.

The 2019 edition, which took place from 11 to 13 July, included a workshop by artistic directors Musa Hlatshwayo (South Africa) and Maura Morales (Germany).

The applications deadline is 1 November 2019. Only successful candidates will be contacted.

Requirements

Participants should email the following requirements to habanahabadance@gmail.com:

• Application letter, which must be written in English or Swahili.
• A bio/profile of the group.
• The latest video link, accompanied by a brief description of the dance piece.
• Three high-resolution photos (JPEG format).
