
Call for applications: 2021 Radcliffe Fellowship Programme
Harvard University's institute for advanced study, Radcliffe Institute, is accepting applications for its fellowship programme during the 2021 and 2022 academic year.
- Nigerian writer Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie is a former Radcliffe Institute Fellow.
The Radcliffe Fellowship Programme is awarded to artists, scientists, writers, scholars, public intellectuals, and practitioners, whose work is making a difference in their professional fields and the larger world.
Radcliffe Institute will award 50 fellowships to individuals or groups of two to three people working on the same project. The fellows will be in residence for a period of nine months and will receive a stipend of $78 000 plus an additional $5 000 to cover project expenses. Fellows are expected to be free of their regular commitments so that they may fully devote themselves to the work outlined in their proposal.
Applications are available in the following categories:
- Creative Arts
- Science, Engineering, and Mathematics
- Humanities and Social Sciences
- Practitioners
Note:
- Those applying in the Creative Arts category need not have a PhD or an MFA to apply.
- Project proposals should be original, well-conceived, imaginative, and feasible.
Who should apply
The Creative Arts category accepts applications in:
- Music composition, film and video, visual arts, fiction and non-fiction writers, poetry, journalism and playwriting.
How to apply
Those applying as music composers must show strong evidence of achievement as a professional artist.
Applicants must submit the following:
- Recent compositions on Soundcloud, YouTube or Vimeo (3 links max).
- Written scores, except for electronic or improvisational work.
- Short curriculum vitae
- Project proposal
- Three letters of recommendation

Selection process
Applications will be evaluated based on the quality and significance of the proposed project and the applicant's intellectual and creative capacity, as evidenced by a strong record of achievement or extraordinary promise. The institute seeks diversity along every dimension, including geography, ethnicity and race, stage in career, and ideological perspective.
Successful applicants will be notified by email in March 2021.
