Call for applications: Audio engineering course in Zimbabwe
Music Crossroads Zimbabwe is calling on interested individuals to apply for a one-year certificate course in audio engineering in Harare.
The academy seeks to enrol 30 young students and the submission deadline is 22 March. Successful applicants will begin classes on 29 March and graduate on 15 December.
The course will cover some of the following topics:
- Fundamentals of sound design.
- Sound reinforcement.
- Sound for live concert and studio.
- Recording, mixing and mastering.
Successful applicants will use the following software:
- Logic Pro.
- Pro Tools.
Requirements
Interested applicants should meet the following requirements:
- Literacy in English.
- Background in sound engineering or music is an advantage.
“This is a trendsetting initiative to step up and professionalise the sound engineering sector of the music industry in Zimbabwe," Music Crossroads Zimbabwe director Melody Zambuko told Music In Africa. “Music Crossroads Zimbabwe was among the first institutions to offer a sound engineering training programme in the country. The need to establish this course was inspired by the hundreds of backyard studios that have spiralled in the last decade.”
