Call for applications: Gonzervatory music workshop in Germany
Musicians around the world are invited to apply for an all-expenses-paid, 10-day music performance workshop in Cologne, Germany. Titled the Gonzervatory, the event is open to all musicians aged 18 and above.
Five selected musicians will win a trip to hone their musical skills in preparation for the Convocation Concert led by Grammy-winning Canadian musician Chilly Gonzales in Cologne on 28 October.
The submission deadline is 1 May and applicants can apply here.
Requirements
- Applicants must be able to write and perform their own material.
- The call is open to composers, instrumentalists, singer, songwriters, rappers and producers.
- Applicants must be 18 years and above (as of 27 October 2019).
- Applicants must be available to travel from 27 October until the 10 November.
- Applicants must have all required documentation to travel to Germany (valid passport).
- Applicants must have a working knowledge of English.
Applications outcome
- The list of semi-finalists will be published on Chilly Gonzales' official website and social networks on 15th May.
- The list of five selected students will be published on the Chilly Gonzales website and social networks on 4 June.
- Successful applicants will be contacted via email prior to publishing the final list.
- Applicants should take the time to carefully read the application form before filling it out.
“During the workshop, students will live and work together in a musical home created at Cologne’s own 25hours Hotel, The Circle,” a statement reads. “Each day starts with one-on-one coaching sessions with Gonzo, followed by afternoon masterclasses from special guests selected from his friends and collaborators.
“Each evening, the students rehearse together, learning and practicing each other’s songs for the graduation concert on 8 November 2019. The experience, with all its inevitable struggles and triumphs, will be documented and shared with viewers all over the world. Livestreams and daily video debrief will allow audiences to witness personal exchanges in real time and develop an emotional investment in the participants’ musical progress.”
