Call for applications: South Atlantic Performing Arts Market 2022
Artists and creators are invited to apply for the 2022 edition of the South Atlantic Performing Arts Market (MAPAS) in Gran Canaria and Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain, from 4 to 9 July.
The call is designed for artists and creators as well as booking and distribution agencies in the performing arts to present their artistic projects and enter the selection process for networking sessions and artistic performances at MAPAS 2022. It provides participants with an opportunity to make connections and boost the circulation of their cultural products globally.
Who should apply
Participants may be individuals, companies, groups and professional collectives of African, Latin American, Spanish or Portuguese origin, or foreigners residing in those countries and regions, who work professionally in the disciplines of music, theatre, dance, circus and street arts, as well as booking, management and distribution agencies.
Interested parties should apply here before 24 March. Applicants will be notified about the outcome on 9 May.
Requirements
Music
- Musicians and/or professional music groups working in contemporary music may participate.
- Musicians should demonstrate five live performances via programme handouts, press clippings, printed programmes, photos or videos.
- Applicants should include a biography covering the group’s origin, genre and history.
- Applicants should possess at least one album (EP, CD or digital recording). The title, year of production, sleeve and record label must be specified.
- Applicants should include a document containing general production information, tech rider, song credits, producers, management, etc.
- List audio-visual material on any of the following digital platforms: Spotify, Deezer, SoundCloud, iTunes, Dailymotion, YouTube and/or Vimeo, among others, in the relevant format.
Performing arts
This relates to artists and/or professional groups and companies working in the performing arts, whose work is linked to theatre, dance, circus and street arts.
Applicants should:
- Demonstrate five live performances via programme handouts, press clippings, printed programmes, photos or videos.
- Include a biography covering the company’s origin, genre and history.
- Include information about the proposed show, specifying the title and the premiere year and location (programme or poster in PDF format).
- Include a document containing general information about the show, genre, playwright credits, choreography, number of members in the company, etc.
- Include audio-visual material on any of the following digital platforms: YouTube, Dailymotion and/or Vimeo.
Agencies
Applicants should:
- Demonstrate at least three years of experience via a PDF file containing information about the company’s history, a list of the artists it represents, achievements, awards and other activities or topics relating to its management.
- Submit at least two artistic groups or shows that meet the requirements for the open call for artists.
- Accept the terms and conditions of this call and agree to their data being processed by the event organisers.
- Complete and send an application on or before the deadline. Incomplete applications, applications which fail to accept the terms and conditions and applications sent after the deadline will not be taken into consideration.
- Attach the compulsory requirements for each of the artists submitted in accordance with their discipline (music or performing arts).
