The programme consists of five sessions open to 12 young musicians and improvisers from the Mediterranean basin looking to build their careers to become professional artists. Applicants should have proven experience in musical improvisation. Each session is designed for a large diversity of musical aesthetics and Mediterranean expressions. It will host all music styles using improvisations in jazz, traditional music and early music.
“Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the difficulties of travelling that ensued, MYO has been forced to cancel the annual auditions that usually take place in roughly twenty cities in the Mediterranean area,” the orchestra said. “However, any artists who wish to participate in the MEDINEA sessions may apply via video. Musicians will be selected in partnership with members of the MEDINEA network.”
