Call for entries: Headies Mic Check competition in Nigeria
Undiscovered Nigerian musicians can now submit their entries for the 2023 Headies Mic Check talent show.
The contest forms part of activities designed around the annual Headies awards, and seeks to offer a platform to launch Nigeria’s next breakout star.
Last year, rapper Zez was named the winner of the maiden edition of the competition, taking home ₦5 million ($6 500), a brand-new car, and a one-year music licence deal.
How to enter
To participate, interested musicians must:
- Upload a video of themselves singing their favourite song on social media.
- Use the hashtag: #HeadiesMicCheck2
- Visit the competition’s website and share the social media link to the video.
Entry closes on 4 July.
Meanwhile, submissions for the 2023 Headies closed on 16 June. The scheme will reward musical works released between January 2022 and March 2023.
