Call for entries: MTN Hitmaker Ghana
MTN Ghana is calling for applications for Season 9 of the MTN Hitmaker music reality show.
The competition will reward the winner with a $20 800 recording deal. It is open to amateur Ghanaian musicians.
Applicants can send in entries via the MTN Pulse app on Android or iOS, which they can download for free. Individuals will be required to register and upload demos of their music onto the platform.
“Since MTN conceived the idea to identify, nurture and economically empower talented young Ghanaians who desire a career in the music industry, we have been amazed by the pool of talent that Ghana has and we are encouraged by the positive impact MTN Hitmaker has made in the industry and the lives on many,” MTN Ghana chief marketing officer Noel Kojo-Ganson said. “As a brand that serves as an enabler of endless opportunities, there's more to be done to change the lives of many more young music talents."
This year, the reality show is running under the theme, Unlock Your Flow. Touching on the tagline, Ganson encouraged lyrically gifted artists who lack a platform to take advantage of the opportunity.
Shortlisted contestants will be paired with respected Ghanaian producers DJ Breezy, M.O.G Beatz, MixMasta Garzy, who will provide training and mentorship to the finalists selected for the live shows.
Judges for the competition include singer Eazzy, as well as producers Kaywa and Richie Mensah.
Lasmid is the current holder of the MTN Hitmaker title. He's signed to Highly Spiritual Music and recently released 'Odo Brassband", his debut single featuring Kofi Kinaata. KiDi, Kuami Eugene, Kurl Songx and rapper Freda Rhymz are among the competition’s alumni.
