Call for participation: ACCES 2018 workshops
The Music In Africa Conference for Collaborations, Exchange and Showcases (ACCES) is calling on upcoming musicians, producers, sound engineers and those interested in the music business to participate in the ACCES 2018 workshops, scheduled for 16 and 17 November in Nairobi, Kenya.
The call is open to everyone and all that interested individuals need to do is register to be at the music conference. Registration is free for Africans, while non-Africans will be required to pay a fee of $100.
The registration deadline is 15 November and participants are free to attend all sessions on a first-come, first-served basis.
The ACCES 2018 workshop sessions will be as follows:
Music production essentials
This workshop will be steered by producer and sound engineer Tim 'Ennovator' Rimbui (Kenya) and producer Eric Musyoka (Kenya), as well as Nick Loder (sound engineer and music producer from London) at 11.05am on Friday 16 November. The session is designed for both aspiring and established producers who will get to learn about top production secrets on beatmaking, arrangement, DAWs, plugins, mastering and useful production tools.
DJ essentials
This discussion will be led by Kenyan DJ and producer SURAJ at 3pm on Friday 16 November. SURAJ will use this opportunity to share his knowledge on the art of deejaying and how one can earn a living from it. This is an opportunity for aspiring DJs who wish to make their way to the top.
Composing for film
ACCES 2018 has partnered with German institution Media Sound Hamburg on this important session aimed at music producers who are looking to tap into the film industry – one of the most financially rewarding avenues available for composers today. This session, which take place at 11am on Saturday 17 November, will also cover the basics of sound design and music for the gaming industry.
Music In Africa recently called on young Kenyan film music composers, video game music composers and sound designers to apply for a summer scholarship that will take place in Hamburg, Germany, between 9 and 18 August 2019. The winner of the scholarship will be announced at ACCES 2018 and applications are open until 4 November.
Digital strategies for artists
Joose Digital strategist Jude Clark (Kenya) will conduct a workshop for artists who are keen to grow their fan base at 2.45pm on Saturday 17 November. The workshop will cover significant aspects such as finding audiences, using the right channels and measuring progress.
