Call for registration: South African Reggae Summit workshop
Fuse Africa Group is calling on music industry stakeholders to register for the South African Reggae Summit workshop at Museum Africa in Newtown, Johannesburg, on 22 November.
- German reggae artist Uwe Banton.
The workshop is a build-up to the inaugural Joburg International Reggae Splash concert at Carfax on 23 November. It seeks to afford creatives the opportunity to engage in a round-table discussion on how to develop reggae music as an opportunity to create sustainable businesses through the craft.
The workshop also aims to openly discuss the ongoing challenges that the reggae genre faces, and offer potential solutions for growth.
The workshop will be facilitated by advocate Sipho Mantula and feature Uwe Banton (Germany), Frans Pinas (Netherlands) and representatives from the Department of Arts and Culture, the Southern African Music Rights Organisation, the Recording Industry of South Africa, Trace TV and Warner Music.
“The knowledgeable panel of music professionals will draw on their experiences and share ideas aimed at ensuring that emerging music professionals know how to market their skills and develop their careers,” the workshop organisers said.
“The summit will continue in its aim towards providing a platform for independent music professionals to discuss the challenges and opportunities in the South African reggae music industry, and propose solutions to these issues. In addition, the summit provides conference attendees with education, resources and networking opportunities with established and experienced industry professionals.”
The event is free to attend. Interested participants can register here.
