East Africa: Applications open for Santuri’s Femme Electronic

The project was initiated by Uganda’s DJ Rachael, in partnership with the Goethe-Institut in Kenya and Goethe-Zentrum in Uganda, and involves training, workshops, mentoring, showcases, residencies and events aimed at addressing the severe gender imbalance in East Africa’s music industry, and the electronic music scene in particular.

Non-Kenyan applicants should have a Kenyan work permit and be able to work under a local contract. All applicants must have a valid passport and vaccination card.

Candidates must also have experience and interest in event or project management and an in-depth knowledge of the East African arts and culture landscape, with a focus on the electronic music scene. Female candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities include coordinating outreach and stimulating interest to enroll in Femme Electronic, managing workshops and training opportunities, networking at events, parties and exhibitions in Nairobi and beyond, financial accounting, social media engagement and coordinating travel logistics for participants, staff and facilitators.

The successful candidate will start on 1 March 2017 and work for nine months, with possible extension subject to availability of resources.
