Gambia's Dr Olugander set to tour
Gambian reggae artist Dr Olugander has released Friends on Journey, a 14-track album.
The Finland-based act recorded the album in Finland and Jamaica. The album was then mixed and mastered in the US and Italy, and will provide material for concert performances in different countries.
“I am preparing to go out on the Friends on Journey tour which will take me to other parts of Europe and Asia,” Olugander said.
Inspired by his grandfather, the late traditional musician Oupa Kambai Joku, Dr Olugander fell in love with music, began recording and soon rose to fame as one of Gambia’s reggae ambassadors. He has travelled to many countries promoting positivity through his music.
His new album features a selection of artists from Jamaica, Gambia and Trinidad & Tobago including Macka B, Siddy Ranks, Teflon, and Ele Trunk, the controversial son of popular reggae-dancehall act Elephant Man).
“This album is the greatest thing that ever happened in my music career because in this album I had the chance to collaborate with great musicians I used to listen to growing up as a youth,” Dr Olugander told local publication Voice Vibes, adding that the album chronicles his life journey, even as it advocates peace around the world.
