The Headies calls for entries
The Headies, perhaps Nigeria’s most respected award event, has announced a call for entries to its 2015 edition. Works to be considered are to be entered via headies.com before 15 September, says organiser Smooth Promotions. The window for submissions opened 11 August.
Last year’s event saw rapper Olamide emerge overall victor, winning the event’s coveted Album of the Year category for his Baddest Guy Ever Liveth album. He also took the year’s Best Rap Album award. His two awards on the night continued his dominance of both categories, having won those same categories with his sophomore YBNL at the 2013 edition. Dancehall artist Patoranking won the 2014 Next Rated category, a category that comes with a car gift. Winners that night include Sean Tizzle, Niyola, Davido and Sarkodie.
‘We have come a long way,’ CEO Smooth Promotions Ayo Animashaun said, ‘in celebrating the Nigerian music industry and the outstanding talents that have contributed to the growth we see today.
‘This is the tenth edition of The Headies and so it is a celebration. We are constantly exploring new, exciting and ground-breaking ideas to make this event even bigger than it has become and this edition will be better than last year's edition.’
To be eligible for consideration, works must have been released between July 2014 and June 2015. For more information visit the award’s website here.
