KCee and Simi to release sophomore albums
Over the next few weeks, the Nigerian music industry will welcome new albums from Kcee and Simi.
Kcee, formerly half of defunct duo KC Presh, has released one previous album. His debut solo album,Take Over, was released in 2013. Some of its singles, notably ‘Pull Over’ with Wizkid and ‘Limpopo’, were nationwide hits. Attention to Detail, his forthcoming album, is to be released on 24 August.
In recent times, Kcee, born Kingsley Okonkwo, has announced that he would be contesting for the Anambra state governor’s seat at the next elections. “I will submerge myself in the next coming months to seeking necessary counsel and support in achieving this goal,” he informed his fans via social media. “I encourage every youth and all of my fans to join this movement of contributing our quota to the rescue of this great nation. We have begun and there is no stopping us.”
Kcee has also been involved in a heated exchange involving law suits with former collaborator Harrysong, who has started his own label and appears to take shots at his former friend on his new single ‘Arabanko’.
Also releasing her second album soon is Simi. Her first album Ogaju was released in 2006. Then a gsopel act, Simi (born Simisola Bolatito Ogunleye) has become classed as an alternative act who over the last few years, has broken into the mainstream pop scene, collaborating with Davido on the song ‘Maga 2 Mugu’ off his Son of Mercy EP and releasing the Chemistry EP with Falz. Her sophomore album, Simisola, is scheduled for release on 8 September.
