Ladysmith Black Mambazo to perform in Malawi for first time
Legendary South African group Ladysmith Black Mambazo will stage their first-ever live performance on Malawian soil on the night of 29 August at the Bingu International Conference Center (BICC) Auditorium in Lilongwe from 8pm.
Fresh from recent tours of the UK and China, the globe-trotting, Grammy-winning isicathamiya choir will be supported by Malawi’s own Joyful Souls, another talented acappella choral group.
Ladysmith Black Mambazo was formed in the early 1960s and have carved a truly unique soulful African sound. With a musical discography of over 50 albums, Ladysmith Black Mambazo has received numerous accolades, including four Grammy Awards, as well as an Academy Award nomination. Their influence has led to their contributing soundtrack material for a number of films including Hollywood blockbusters such as ‘The Lion King Part II’, ‘Coming to America’, Marlon Brando’s ‘A Dry White Season’, ‘The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen’, ‘Cry The Beloved Country’ and ‘Invictus’.
