Marafiki Music Festival returns to Dar es Salaam on 6 October
The organisers of Marafiki Music Festival have announced that the 2022 edition will take place in Makumbusho Village Museum, Dar es Salaam, and at Firefly, Bagamoyo, Tanzania, on 6-8 October and 9 October, respectively.
Organised by ASEDEVA, the event brings together local and international artists to perform and share their passion for music every October in Dar es Salaam and Bagamoyo.
This festival also brings different art stakeholders and experts to share their experiences with artists in order to build artist capacity in various areas of their art and creativity – allowing patrons to enjoy wonderful live music and gain knowledge at the same time.
This year, the festival is a part of the #SANAAPRO Project, which is funded by the Embassy of France in Tanzania. Through this fund support, Marafiki Festival has managed to assemble artists and musicians from different countries for the showcases and knowledge exchange sessions.
The festival has organised a workshop for three days on 6-8 October between 10am and 4pm at Nafasi Art Space.
Festival organisers believe such workshops are an important element to all artists, music curators, event organisers and managers to develop their careers.
The following topics will be covered during the conversation/panel wrap up discussion and workshop:
- Growing Your Brand Towards International Markets.
- Fusion Technique on Traditional and Contemporary Music.
- Publishing and Copyright.

- Msafiri Zawose – Musician.
- John Kitime – Musician, retired member of the board of the Copyright society of Tanzania (COSOTA).
