Music to take centre stage at Castle Lite reality show
Music will play a pivotal role at Season 2 of the Castle Lite’s reality TV show Ultimate House Vibe, which will premiere on Mzansi Magic in Johannesburg, South Africa, on 24 October.
- Zulu Mkhathini will host Season 2 of Ultimate House Vibe.
Ultimate House Vibe will feature 12 contestants brought together in an upmarket Johannesburg mansion as they compete for R150 000 ($10 000). The contestants will be paired to compete for the big prize and one contender will be eliminated every week.
Hosted by local musician Zulu Mkhathini, Ultimate House Vibe will comprise the following judges: content creator Carpo More, TV actress Khanyi Mbau and comedian Mpho Popps. Carpo will judge the contestant’s vibe in terms of music and entertainment while Mbanyi will judge the contestants based on aesthetics and the their ability to stay on theme. Popps will lend his judging abilities to make sure that each vibe serves food that is up to standard.
“Music plays a big role in the show,” Castle Lite brand director Silke Bucker told Music In Africa. “After all, what is a vibe without music? Castle Lite has always sought to be a brand that continues to deliver on its brand purpose of shattering barriers to enjoyment. And as you know, one of the consistent levers that the brand has leveraged is music, more specifically hip hop.
"This is most evident in some of the music experiences the brand has unlocked in the past, bringing together local and international artists to create a vibe for audiences. Additionally, Carpo’s role as a judge on the show is to judge each vibe on its entertainment value with music being a key element to any vibe. The contestants are given a theme every week to use as inspiration for their vibe and that’s where music plays a big part.
“Brand Castle Lite prides itself in being at the forefront of local urban culture, and Ultimate House Vibe positions the brand perfectly within that market. The show also reminds consumers that you can have the ultimate vibe at home, just add an extra cold Castle Lite, great music, great company and you have the recipe for perfect vibe this summer. Consumers are always encouraged to enjoy their vibe responsibly at all times.”
Bucker added: “We couldn’t be more excited over the return of the show. Our brand prides itself on being at the forefront of local urban culture and Ultimate House Vibe positions us perfectly within that market. We believe that Season 2 will completely exceed the success of Season 1 with interesting contestants, a winning set of judges and a very talented host.”
HOD PR and publicity Philly Kubheka said: “As always Mzansi Magic is happy to bring you another entertaining season of Ultimate House Vibe. Our viewers can look forward to fresh and exciting changes. This season will also give fans an opportunity to vote for their favourite contestant before we announce the ultimate winner.”
Each week, two contestants will plan and execute their Ultimate House Vibe. As team captains, both contestants will host their vibe with the aid of fellow contestants and a budget of only R3 000. Contestants will choose their own location as well as their guest of honour, who is usually a close friend or family member and someone they see as most deserving of an uplifting night of vibes and extra refreshment.
Season 1 of Ultimate House Vibe was won by musician Material Don Dada. Season 2 will premiere on Mzansi Magic (DStv channel 161) on 24 October at 9pm.
