Nigeria: The Beatz Awards announce 2021 nominees

Now in its sixth year, the awards platform aims to highlight and honour musicians and music professionals including music producers, songwriters, mixing and mastering engineers, video directors, and broadcasters, among others.

This year, awards will be presented in some 25 voting categories, including Producer of the Year, DJ of the Year and Afropop Producer of the Year. The newly renamed Don Jazzy New Discovery Producer of the Year will be rewarded with ₦1m (about $2 400).

The Beatz Awards CEO Elijah John said the winners in the producers’ categories as well as the mixing and mastering category will each receive ₦100 000, while the winner of the On-Air Personality (OAP) category will win landed property.

Producers Rexxie, London, Andre Vibez and Ductor Sett lead this year’s nominees with four nomination apiece. They are followed by Telz and Spax with three nods each. P2J, Pheelz and Type A are up for two awards each.
