Nigeria's Tekno tours Europe
Nigerian pop artist Tekno is currently touring cities in Europe. The tour began on 29 July and ends on Sunday 7 August.
The Tekno 2016 Europe Summer Tour Duro is divided in two phases: the first took place in the concluding days of July and the second takes place during the opening week of August. The artist has performed in Finland and Spain, closing the July phase with a concert in Zurich, Switzerland.
The tour continues on Saturday 6 August with a performance in Copenhagen, Denmark. The Dutch city of Amsterdam will be next to receive the man otherwise known as 'Alhaji Tekno' on Sunday 7 August.
Born Augustine Miles Kelechi in northern Nigeria, the artist has been on the rise since his debut single ‘Holiday’ in 2013. A duet with Davido, 'Holiday', established Tekno’s pop potential. Talked into leaving his Abuja abode by the artist Iyanya and a friend, Tekno moved to Lagos, where he signed with Made Men Music Group (MMMG), leaving his former record label. At MMMG, he released the hit songs ‘Duro’ and ‘Wash’. He also signed a deal with the telecom company MTN.
This year has released two Tekno new tracks, ‘Where’ and ‘Pana’, receive significant airplay. His debut album, titled Half an Hour, is due out soon.
