Open call: Telem Freetown auditions
Sierra Leonean arts organisation Telem Freetown is inviting musicians to audition for its upcoming performance series scheduled for late May.
Founded in 2021, Telem Freetown aims to cultivate an inclusive and innovative creative community in the Sierra Leonean capital Freetown. Telem Freetown is also behind Telem Week, an annual music event that encompasses a songwriting retreat, mentorship programme, workshops and a performance festival fostering global connections and creativity within Sierra Leone’s music industry.
The call is open to singer-songwriters, rappers, instrumentalists and producers from the West African country.
The deadline for applications is 21 April.
Submission requirements for singer-songwriters and rappers
Singer-songwriters and rappers interested in the opportunity may send a video showcasing their talent in three different genres. Each genre segment should be 1 minute and 30 seconds long.
Audition content:
- Submitted videos should highlight artists’ versatility.
- Applicants may perform original songs or covers.
- Genres may include R&B, hip hop, Afrobeats, or any other style representing artists’ unique sound.

- They must include their name along with the video.
Submission requirements for instrumentalists and music producers
Interested instrumentalists and producers must create a video showcasing their talent in three different genres. Each genre segment should be 1 minute and 50 seconds long.
Audition content
- Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in playing various instruments across different musical genres.
Submission process
