SA artists Nandi Mngoma and Trey to host 2nd season of 'Coke Studio'

Featuring a line-up of amazing talent, the show is back on South African TV screens to entertain viewers every Saturday night for 13 weeks.

The Coke Studio Season 2 artist line-up will include continental collaborations, namely AKA with Nigerian superstar Patoranking, Cassper Nyovest with Diamond Platnumz from Tanzania, and Angola’s Landrick with Ash Muzic. Other exciting fusions that will feature in this televised show include Nasty C with Zimbabwe's Buffalo Soulja, and SAMA-award winning rapper Fifi Cooper with pop singer Ryki.

Coke Studio is a music television series that has become popular throughout South Africa and features live studio-recorded music performances by various artists. The show focuses on the fusion of diverse African musical influences, particularly hip-hop, kwaito, rock and pop. The show provides a platform for renowned as well as upcoming or less mainstream artists of various genres, regions and languages to collaborate in studio. Artists are given only 48 hours to create their tracks, with the added pressure of all their ups and inevitable downs caught on camera. All of this will culminate in an epic performance, hosted by Nandi.

Trey and Nandi are not strangers to the entertainment industry. Trey (real name Trevor Sineke) is a producer  and member of hip-hop group Dreamteam. An alumni of Coke Studio's first season, he will provide viewers with insight on the show's journey across South Africa. His mission will be to pair the best talent for the ultimate track in the final episode. Nandi is a singer, actress and TV presenter who rose to fame with the 2011 release of the single ‘Tonight’, her debut album Nandi in September 2012 and her first music video, ‘Goodtimes’, in February 2013.

Other familiar faces from Season One, such as rapper Riky Rick and pop sensation Jimmy Nevis, will return - now in mentorship roles to guide fellow artists through the music-making process.

Every week Coke Studio will feature the best producers in the industry - including Sketchy Bongo, Gemini Major and Mobi Dixon - each bringing their unique sounds and talents to the show.

The South African version of the show is not to be confused with the pan-African Coke Studio Africa that is currently in production in Nairobi, Kenya with participants from 11 different African countries, including Henok Mehari of Ethiopian band Mehari Brothers, who is collaborating with Nigeria’s Cynthia Morgan.
