SA bank launches annual Durban music festival
South African bank Capitec has launched a new annual music event titled Live Better Festival.
The first edition of the festival will be held at Kings Park Stadium in Durban from 15 to 16 December. Local artists who will perform on the first day of the festival are Nasty C, Kwesta, AKA, Zakwe, DJ Tira, Distruction Boyz and Okmalumkoolkat. They will be joined by DJs Junior De Rocka, King Sfiso and Mario. Zonke, Lady Zamar, Vusi Nova and Zamajobe will perform on the second day of the festival.
“Capitec is excited to be part of this festival and we are looking forward to two fantastic days of music, food and fashion,” Capitec head of brand marketing and corporate affairs Sbusiso Kumalo said. “Bring your family and friends and enjoy the Live Better Festival with us.”
Capitec said the festival “will be a yearly two-day music event that celebrates the best of musical heritage and will address the high demand for live entertainment in KwaZulu-Natal”.
Concertgoers will be spoilt for choice from a variety of genres such as house, gqom and hip hop. Fans can expect AKA to perform songs from his latest album Touch My Blood. Kwesta, Zakwe and Nasty C will add more flavour on the hip hop side. Gqom duo Distruction Boyz will entertain fans with their 2017 hit 'Omunye' while Vusi Nova, Zonke and Zamajobe will provide a dose of feel-good Afro-pop and soul.
Capitec Live Better Festival is expected to grow the live scene in Durban. The initiative joins other corporate-sponsored events in South Africa such as Standard Bank Joy of Jazz. The festival also joins top music events in and around Durban such as Zakifo, the Durban Jazz Festival, Fact Durban Rocks, Umhlanga Food and Music Festival, KZN Music Imbizo, and Bubbles, Beer & Burgers.
Tickets to Live Better Festival are available via Ticketpro and all Edcon stores.
