SA: The Big Hash inks Sony Music Africa deal
South African artist The Big Hash has signed a record deal with Sony Music Africa.
The recording deal coincides with the release of his R&B single titled ‘Another Day’ under Sony Music. The song showcases The Big Hash’s lyrical prowess, storytelling abilities and masterful production skills. With a catchy chorus and a message that speaks to the daily struggles of young people, ‘Another Day’ is poised to be an anthem for a generation.
The release is followed by his previous hit ‘The Circles’, which is a dynamic collaboration with Kwesta that has amassed close to 95 000 streams and topped charts since its release. The latest offering is not only about his growth as an artist but also about staying true to his roots. He continues to be a voice for the youth and a symbol of hope, proving that hard work and dedication can lead to success.
As a result of dropping out of high school to pursue music, The Big Hash became one of the leading voices of the South African internet-driven melodic rap scene in the 2010s. Born in 2000, Hash made a name for himself in 2017 with the release of his debut album The Big Hash Theory. He earned a dedicated fanbase almost overnight with his punchy rhymes, relatable lyrics, and calming melodies inspired by Drake, Childish Gambino, and Lil Uzi Vert. Throughout his projects, such as 2018’s Life + Times of a Teenage Influence or 2019’s Young, or singles such as ‘Amnesia’, Hash shows his versatility as a hip hop artist but also an R&B artist.
