SA: Black Coffee announces Music Is King dates, line-up
Music Is King, the international concert founded by renowned South African DJ Black Coffee, will be held at Ticketpro Dome in Johannesburg and Kings Park Outer Fields in Durban, South Africa, on 14 and 15 December respectively.
The line-up includes Black Coffee, Sjava, Samthing Soweto, Distruction Boyz, Moonchild Sanelly, Muzi and amapiano duo Jazzi Disciples. They will be joined by British musician Tom Misch.
The event, which is in its second edition, will combine fashion trends, dance and urban art to create a lifestyle experience in the two cities.
“We did our first concert last year at the Ticketpro Dome, it was very big and it was a great success,” Black Coffee said at the Music Is King media launch on Wednesday. “We thought it would be amazing to do another one and that it would be also amazing to take it to Durban because we had an entity called Block Party. It has quite a big following but it was mainly a Black Coffee show and we wanted to do something bigger that would involve other artists, which is Music Is King.
“This is our second year and we are very excited with the line-up; we are very excited with what we are trying to do with the show itself. We went for the artists who are really serious about what they want to do, we went for the best in the continent, and I think that’s what we want on every Music Is King show.
"We don’t want the flavour-of-the-moment type of festival. We are not trying to sell the tickets fast, we want a quality show and the artists to bring their best. We feel like everyone on the line-up represents us in their best way.”
Tickets to the event are available here.
