SA: Deadline looming for Put Me On music competition submissions
Sportscene is accepting submissions for its 2022 Put Me On music competition for a chance to win R30 000 in cash, Puma merchandise and a professionally produced single and music video, among other prizes. The submission deadline is Sunday, 21 August 2022.
Now in its fifth edition, the initiative is sponsored by Puma South Africa and aims to unearth and develop emerging artists in South Africa. Artists can submit their music and details via Sportscene Studio’s official website before 21 August 2022.
How it works
- The music submitted is judged by a panel of experts who will select the Top 30 finalists.
- Depending on their location, these artists will then perform in live roadshows, either at Sportscene Canal Walk, Cape Town, or Sandton City, Johannesburg.
- After the live performances, there will be a voting day open to the public to vote for their Top 5 finalists.
Prizes
- A cash prize of R30 000.
- Puma merchandise worth R50 000.
- A professionally recorded single and music video.
Put Me On 2022 is expected to be the biggest edition to date with both brands looking to out-do what they have done in the past years. The competition has become one of the most popular events in the South African youth culture, constantly seeking to create new avenues for emerging musicians. Last year, the contest saw more than 5 000 entries. The competition was tightly contested with two artists, namely, Holy Alpha and Priddy Prince, being crowned as the winners. As part of their prize, they each spent time with hip hop super-producer Zoocci Coke Dope and received mentoring from him.
Other notable artists who have gone on to have successful music careers include Lucasraps, who has released a star-studded 16-track album 031 To The World 2.0., as well as Trusted SLK, alongside Costa Titch, Kash CPT and Indigo Stella.
