Written and composed by Mr K, and engineered by seasoned producer DJ Chase in Johannesburg under NFI Productions, Relations is “a sermon on love and relationships.”
The album is led by singles ‘L.O.V.E.’ featuring singer Zikhona, and ‘Hard To Say Goodbye’ featuring Troxy, boldly announcing itself with ominous, breezy piano chords before plunging into some thick and lush percussion.
Mr K has poured his heart and soul into this project, developing a distinctive sound that combines his life experiences with his love of music.
The project not only showcases the singer’s talents but also tells an inspirational story that can be related to our daily life and experiences. It’s a self-reflective project that was inspired by the complexities of Mr K’s relationship with God and with the people around him.
Speaking about the album, Mr K said: “Relations is an album about love in relationships. The tracks are inspired by the word of God. These tracks are interpreting moments in our daily lives and associated experiences, while others tell stories directly from the Bible.”
Mr K, real name Khulekani Sydwell Nxumalo, grew up in Ezakheni, Ladysmith, and attended high school in Ulundi. It is here that he developed a love for the arts. His debut album, Put God First, combines dance music and ballads and was inspired by the Psalms of David.
