The marquee returns with a line-up that includes Zee Nxumalo, Scott Maphuma, Oscar Mbo, and DJ Merlon, with more artists to be announced.
Known for tracks such as ‘NguMama’, ‘Ndimthanda’, ‘Cwaka’ and ‘Molo Sisi’, Dyantyis is celebrated for his fusion of jazz, Afro-soul, and traditional isiXhosa music. His upcoming performance is expected to be one of Africa’s prestigious lifestyle and sporting events.
“We always love playing in Durban, and we’re truly looking forward to connecting with you all on the 5th of July,” Dyantyis said.
The Brunch Marquee’s expanded 800-guest capacity will host a diverse mix of musical talent, carefully curated to resonate with younger audiences and their evolving musical preferences. Spearheading the event is Lusaso “Saso” Ngcobo, an artist-turned-entrepreneur who understands the importance of creating a fresh and inclusive experience.
“Every year, we strive to offer something fresh and exciting for everyone to enjoy, and nothing unites us better than music,” Saso said. “It was essential for us to include some of the artists currently dominating the scene, particularly to engage a younger, more music-savvy audience who often connect songs with viral dance challenges.”
Set against the backdrop of the horse racing event, Saso’s Brunch Marquee returns to a larger and more prominent location while retaining its exclusive, boutique-style charm. This year’s theme, Cradle of Marvels, celebrates Africa’s ancestral heritage, combining cultural authenticity with modern luxury.
In addition to its musical line-up, the event also prioritises youth empowerment. The organising team has expanded its production crew and bar service staff, intentionally hiring young people from across the Durban Metro. This initiative aims to tackle local youth unemployment by offering practical work experience and opportunities for skills development.
Saso added: “In isiZulu, we say ‘umuntu ngumuntu ngabantu’, which loosely translates to ‘I am because you are.’ As a young person myself, I understand how difficult it is to find work opportunities in a field you’re passionate about. I wouldn’t be where I am today if it weren’t for the sponsors who invested in me. I believe it’s important to extend opportunities to others, just as others once did for you.”
