SA rapper Dee Koala hits 1 million streams on Apple Music
Dee Koala, the award-winning rapper from Cape Town, South Africa, has achieved a significant milestone in her career by reaching 1 million streams on Apple Music.
The artist, who is gearing up to join Cassper Nyovest and Nasty C on their African Throne World Tour, recently shared the news with her fans via social media.
Dee Koala’s Apple Music streams have come from her 2019 album 4 The Khaltsha and the singles ‘Anazinto’ (2023) featuring LeoPr3ttyAugust, ‘Gwan’ (2022) featuring Maglera Doe Boy and ‘Spazz’ (2021) featuring Blxckie and K.Keed.
Dee Koala, whose real name is Odwa Situma, is also preparing to set the stage ablaze at her third annual 4 The Khaltsha festival in Khayelitsha on 29 and 30 September. The event promises to be a memorable showcase of Dee Koala’s artistry and her deep connection with her community.
In an exciting update, she revealed that popular athletic apparel brand Adidas will be the official brand partner for the festival. Having been a brand ambassador for Adidas for the past five years, Dee Koala expressed her excitement about the partnership, emphasising the organic connection she shares with the brand.
“For our third annual festival, it was only right to partner with the brand with the three stripes,” she said. “The relationship with me and Adi is just home, man. They like me for me. What drew them to me was when I did my first capsule and I was dressed in Adi and they just dig my energy, the person beside the music.”
