SA rock group Fear of Falling releases new single
South African rock band Fear of Falling has released a new single titled ‘All My Time’. The song is available for streaming and download on all major digital platforms.
The song reflects on how short people have to live their lives to the fullest for a meaningful existence in a chaotic world.
The song is the group’s first single with new vocalist Ross Harding, who joins the line-up with drummer Dale Schnettler, guitarist Lloyd Timke and bassist Brendon McCaig. On the vocal side, the track delivers a powerful, yet restrained arrangement, reminiscent of a theatre-like production filled with highs and lows. With its breathy pauses, the song builds to a massive chorus – all understated by melodic basslines that create magic.
“The writing and recording process for ‘All My Time’ was really interesting to me,” Harding told Music In Africa. “The musical arrangement had been fleshed out already, more or less, so it was about sitting down in studio and piecing together lyrics, first of all, and vocal melodies. Inspiration for lyrics is often a subconscious process for me, while words hit the page without any real consideration for their deeper meaning.
“It’s the retrospective look at the songs that show me their meanings, at least, how they unveil themselves to me, or how I interpret that meaning. The overarching theme of ‘All My Time’ is about making the most of the short time we have in life, within a world in perpetual chaos. While life comes with extreme challenges, to be alive is a gift.”
