Spotify launches Playlist in a Bottle
Spotify recently launched a fun, interactive new feature that allows subscribers to ‘bottle up’ their musical essence of 2023, and reopen it in 2024 for a walk down memory lane.
- Playlist in a Bottle is available to users on Spotify’s free and premium versions.
Playlist in a Bottle is a feature that enables users to create a time capsule of songs that they are listening to right now, which can be accessed a year later. It is only available until 31 January 2023 and users should make their selections before then.
“This is such a fun feature that allows our listeners to pause and preserve this moment in time, and look back at it again in a year to see where they were, what they were listening to and hear the soundtrack to their musical memories,” Spotify’s managing director for sub-Saharan Africa, Jocelyne Muhutu-Remy, said.
The feature is available to users on Spotify’s free and premium plans. To build their own time capsule, users can follow this link from a mobile device, where they can pick a capsule of their choice such as a bottle, a jeans pocket, gumball machine, lunch box or teddy bear to hold their songs.
A series of prompts will help the users decide what goes in their capsules, such as “a song you should hear live this year” and “a song that reminds you of someone you love.”
Users will be able to recall this precise moment in time when they pop the cork off their bottle in 2024.
Meanwhile, Spotify has announced it will host the next edition of its Stream On event on 8 March. The presentation, which is targeted at creators, was last held in 2021. This year’s Stream On is designed to build on Spotify’s creator tools, features and programming during an event that will be streamed live from the Arts District in Los Angeles.
