Tiwa Savage to tour North America
Afrobeats diva Tiwa Savage will be taking her Water & Garri EP on the road in North America starting 15 May.
The tour will see the singer make 17 stops in a number of American and Canadian cities, including New York, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, Vancouver, Montreal and Toronto, among others. Tickets are currently on sale here.
Released in August 2021, the five-track Water & Garri is the singer’s second EP after 2017’s Sugarcane. It was released by Universal Music South Africa and boasts the international hit ‘Somebody’s Son’ featuring American R&B star Brandy. Other guests on Water & Garri include fellow Nigerian R&B and Afro-fusion artists Tay Iwar and Rich King, Ghana’s Amaarae and veteran US rapper Nas.
“It’s crazy to believe but this is actually my first North American tour,” Savage said. “I’ve had so much love from my US fans so I’m super excited to come and play there.”
On the vision behind the EP, Tiwa Savage said: “I'm bringing people into my world. It’s a mixture of all the things I’ve picked up along the way – from my jazz background, loving gospel, R&B, soul, Afrobeat – but then also stepping into new territories and just experimenting with the alté kind of sound.”
Tiwa Savage is likely the most influential female Afrobeats artist today. The multiple award-winning star is behind three albums, namely Once Upon A Time, R.E.D and Celia.
