Top Kenyan talent to converge at second Sportpesa Festival
The second edition of the Sportpesa Festival will host some of Kenya’s top musical talent at the Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi on Saturday 30 January 2016.
Recognizing the importance of music as a tool for uniting people, the Sportpesa Festival aims to remind Kenyans that although there may be music in the world, they can always set down their troubles, pick up their instruments and make a joyful noise.
The event hosts and celebrates Kenya’s top talent in the fields of pop music, art, fashion and sports. In doing so it aims to bring people together through an appreciation and celebration of diverse African cultures, as well as increasing awareness and visibility of African musicians, fashion designers, sportsmen and artists who are dedicated to Afrocentric expression. According to the organisers, the second edition of the festival is aimed at "celebrating winners".
The upcoming event will host performances by artists such as Sauti Sol, Redsan, Kristoff, Nonini, Yvonne Darcq, Gabu, H_Art TheBand, Just A Band, Wyre, King Kaka, Fena Gitu, Kagwe Mungai, Khaligraph Jones, Jua Cali, Sana, Femi 1, Nameless, Graviti, Dela, Wangechi, Collo, Madtraxx, Timmy Dat, Red Accaplella, Abbas Kubaff, Proff, MDQ and Mr. Lenny.
Besides music, the festival shall also feature fun games such as foosball, paintball and rock climbing, among others. For more details check out the Sportpesa Facebook page.
In preparation for this year's event, local hip-hop artists took part in a cypher in which rappers were challenged to stick to the theme 'Made Of Winners'. View the results below.
